Programs Overview

Each Critter Tales program is 45 minutes to 1 hour in length.  Participants will be able to touch live animals.  Therefore, the safety of the animals and of audience members is of the utmost importance.

Our animals are living creatures and should be treated with respect.  Likewise, we value the safety of each and every participant in any Critter Tales experience.  Critter Tales does not require that all who attend touch the animals, but for those who do, we provide hand sanitizer for your convenience.

Our programs are designed for all ages.  We will adjust the content to be appropriate for your group's needs.  All programs are educational and each person is allowed to touch live animals during presentations.  However, Critter Tales is not a petting zoo.  We believe that learning how each of us affects nature is the first step in understanding what we can do to protect and care for it.

Program Themes

Solve a Mystery:
Do you like to look for animal clues when you go on a nature hike?  Have you ever wondered what animals live near you in Oklahoma?  Play a game, make your own animal tracks, and learn to identify animal signs in nature - sounds, tracks, scat, and other clues.

Can you see me?:
Why would an animal need to hide?  If an animal's eyes are in the front, it hunts. If an animal's eyes are on the side, it hides.  Learn about predators and prey.  We'll look at posters, books, skins, and skulls.

Night Sounds:
What does the word "nocturnal" mean?  Who is that in the dark?  Often at night you hear an animal before you see it.  While you're sleeping many creatures are awake and active.  Join in on an imaginary camping trip to find out who's up and about.

When I was born:
What is a baby rabbit called?  Do alligators make good moms?  Where does a Mother sea turtle lay her eggs?  Baby animals start their lives out in many different ways.  Learn about animal life cycles.

Tree of Life:
Imagine every living thing on Earth as a leaf on a tree.  Humans count for just one leaf.  We are part of the tree of life.  When we forget this it can be damaging, but when we remember it can be powerful.  Some animals are disappearing from the earth.  Will we miss them? Can we help save them?  Discover what biodiversity means.  Find out what an ecosystem is.  Become a leaf and learn.

Birthday Parties:
Parties are less formal
than classroom programs.  Approximately one hour with 5 live animals of your choice to touch and learn about, animal artifacts, stories, and a craft for all guests to make & take home.  It's a great way to help your child have a fun, exciting party.  Personal attention from Critter Tales will ensure your child's day is extra special!
